Wow! This is certainly an extremely vivid website. It’s the first one that I have encountered with a completely black background and lots of bold striking reds in use! It brought to mind the old type of adult toy websites. Perhaps the vibrant use of colour is to help evoke a sense of romanticism, strengths of passion and lots of LOVE?! This website is far from typical, and navigation is not the simplest encountered however it is definitely different and so I would score this website 4/5.

I suppose due to the nature of the main products they are selling (ie. roses), there are very few pictures to click on. Their range of ‘happy rose’ is really unique and very unusual. It has multi-coloured petals; like a flower version of ‘Joseph and the multicolour dreamcoat’ or something out of ‘Alice in Wonderland’?

Another unique product is their ‘gold trimmed’ or ‘gold or platinum dipped’ roses (imported from America) whereby real roses are put through a process of electroplating and dipping into the precious metals to create a timeless keepsake. The prices start at £69.99 for a single 12” red rose trimmed with 24k gold!

In Valentine’s Day section, a typical bouquet of 12 roses will cost you £29.99. If you were to choose the Grand Prix roses then this will set you back £49.99.

Their add-on options range from chocolates (from £2.99), flower petals (from £7.99), balloons (from £7.99), vase (from £10.99) or bears (from £2.99).

The delivery is normally free (using 1st class post) or Special Delivery at £4.99 or £9.99 (depending on time of day selected).

You are totally spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing your message; there is a list of at least 73 pre-set suggestions! No need to fear being stuck for words here!

I ordered the ‘Luxury Florist’s Choice’ bouquet in Reds £21.99 on 23 Jan 08. I also upgraded it to a large luxury bouquet costing an extra £4.99. I paid £4.99 for its Courier Delivery, requesting it to be delivered ‘as soon as possible’.

I received the delivery on 25 Jan 08 at 2.45pm by a Fedex delivery van. The bouquet was wrapped in contrasting lime green cellophane, tied with a red gift bow, stood up in a large box, amongst lots of scrunched-up red coloured tissue papers as protection.

The box and the tissue papers were damp, probably due to spillage within the gift wrap and I suspect the box was not kept upright as it should have been by the courier.

The bouquet had 9 red carnations, 5 red gerberas, 5 red roses, 1 burgundy leucadendron, 1 palm leaf, 2 green aspidistra, 2 gypsophila, 3 stems of snake grass and masses of long, asparagus ferns (at least 12 stems). The flowers appeared to be well-conditioned and all are large size flowers, making it a luxurious bouquet.

Overall, I do like the ‘discovery’ factor within the masses of tissue papers. The arrangement has an ‘ethereal-like’ feel to it due to the wispiness created by the lightness of the asparagus ferns. Unfortunately, 3 days into it, 2 roses have wilted since putting into the vase. Overall the flowers were impressive and I would buy from them again in the future.
